Genesis Orchard : II : Mammon

Analog Horror - The History of Apple Rot

This video is the second installment of the seven-part Genesis Orchard analog horror series, deepening the pre-history and mythos of the Apple Rot universe. Documented as an archived excerpt from The Scroll, this surreal narrative takes place eras before the events of the primary short film. It uncovers the cyclical corruption of wealth and desire introduced to the dark valley.

The narrative centers on a mysterious, footstep-less salesman who arrives with an empty bag that clatters with heaps of gold coins instead of speech. Attracted by the sudden wealth, thieves harvest and devour the fungus-covered, rotten fruit of the orchard, establishing an insatiable loop of consumption and commerce. Though gold coins physically bloom where the fallen apples bleed into the soil, the thieves are left weeping, forever trapped in an agonizing cycle of endless greed and counting.

“These words were not meant to be spoken. They were not meant to be written. They were not meant to be read. And yet they are here, and so you will know...”
