“Recognize the face?”

All across the north of Europa, spanning across the entire north of the continent are the Northern European Digging Grounds. Excavation sites larger stretching farther than the eye can see. The industrialised communities living on the Digging Grounds are extremely difficult to access. Most locals never leave the area, and live isolated from the main-land city of Europa. 

Åke was born the youngest of twelve siblings. At the age of 8, he broke his nose in a play-fight with his older brother. A visiting French aristocrat spotted the striking visual of the young boy with white hair and a bloodied face. Lord Jean-Claude D’Aimes of Saint-Quentin, was not just anyone. With a lineage dating back to the 4th century, the man was a key figure in Europa’s fine art scene. Most aristocratic families own a curated selection of trained, human representatives. Åke turned out to be an incredible return on investment, as the twelfth son had been one hell of a deal.

Åke worked day in and out as was asked of him. However the more he worked, the more he lost a sense of self and purpose. Days turned into months, and months into years. Turning 25 made  Åke realize he was going to die under the rule of Jean-Claude. He wanted out. The Lord wouldn’t budge easily. His guests adored Åke, and he was simply bringing in too much money. However, Jean-Claude saw a special kind of potential in Åke. “Real-life” experience could only add to Åke’s intelligence and overall charm. In the end, they came to an agreement. Åke was allowed five years outside of the estate. 

The Alpine districts are known as the intersection of Europa, and Jean-Claude had more than enough contacts travelling through this area to give Åke beneficial errands to run. The new face didn’t go by unnoticed, and Åke’s looks were quickly picked up by fashion photographers and major brands.

He meets Ekster the summer before he turns 28. Ekster’s heist plans sound so anti-establishment that he can only be impressed by them. Fueled by a need to act purely out of his own will and the potential to earn his own money, he joins Ekster in a plan to steal a marble statue. Åke might have never intended to stay longer than one gig. What makes him stay however, is the fun he’s having within the final group dynamic. Åke is truly a people-person, and through his dedicated attitude he is often a more motivating leader for the other members than Ekster could ever be. 

At first sight, Åke is incredibly charming and disarming. He seems to have an open, easy-going and laid back personality. He is like a cameleon; able to fit in and stand out on command. Åke will never be recognised on camera if he doesn’t want to be, despite executing every heist in style with his signature holographic tiger H&K UMP45.
