How to create bright and consistent star-fields

Ever since the first time I watched Star Wars I was incredibly mesmerised by the stars.
They are so bright and vibrant. I've always wanted to achieve a similar result in compositing.

During the production of Syntactic Labyrinths we developed 32-Bit High Dynamic Range stars that we've been using all throughout the film.

The resource is called Star System.
