Saturn is one of the most incredible and atmospheric planets in our solar system. It's giant icy rings are truly something to bewonder...
In Syntactic Labyrinths we specifically wanted to explore a look of Saturn with bright white rings. In most NASA images you can find the rings are a similar yellow'ish color due to the post-processing of the imagery to get most of the important values to be visible. That is a requirement we do not face ourselves. The goal is photorealism, but this does not require a scientific visualisation of the scene.
Before locking in on the physically accurate look of Saturn, we've first explored how our Saturn behaves under a really large light source. These are the results.
