Creating planets for Syntactic Labyrinths is all about giving this sense of grandeur.
Honestly not the easiest task. It has taken years of R&D to have systems and workflows in place that get the look we want.
Planets are huge. But depending on the planet they are also much, much further away from the sun. This means they receive less sunlight—which impacts your camera exposure settings.
Less sunlight on the planet means you'll see more stars when exposing to the planet. With a physically accurate set up it's wonderful to see how the further you get from the sun, the more you get surrounded by bright stars.
Rendered with Chaos Corona to make sure it's crispy and realistic.
I've made a very effective Mars setup a while back when working on a project. And I'm making some art prints with that setup as well.
What is your favourite planet?
