One of the complexities of Syntactic Labyrinths is creating the illusion of depht in the outer-space scenes. A challenge that we will continue exploring solutions for until the completion of the film. Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System. This gives us the benefit of being able to play off its many moons for scale, motion and thus depth.
A great way to add depth would be to make it a Stereo 3D experience. However, in a 2D approach, parallax camera movements seem to be a common technique. In this case we have several shots with minimal movement and for that we noticed the importance of the edit. Cutting from a close-up of the ship in motion, to a wide-shot with little motion still allows the viewer to fill in the gaps. The depth perception comes across due to context as opposed to the one shot.
