Pushing the realism of Planet Earth renders in 3D has already brought some great improvements in both the clouds and atmosphere shader. You can download the latest version of the Earth Digital file for free on our Resources page. The new Earth 1.3 project file is so much fun to play around with. After completely redesigning the set-up for each material and building out a layered atmosphere, much more detail can be achieved native to the render engine.

These renders are made in Chaos Corona. Expect more renders of Earth in the near future. I've also been thinking of working towards a collection of Planet “photographs” that can be printed as a coffee-table book of outer space.
