In Syntactic Labyrinths, living in the Settlement of Babylonia is a hectic life. A literall crawl towards a collective purpose. Mankind has never been this united, building the Library to preserve their species. The world outside is hostile and incapable of sustaining life. Strong UV-radiation has burned the crops and boiled the oceans. Methane gas has bubbled up from the ocean floor and burst into the air, turning it poisonous and flammable. When lightning strikes, clouds of napalm jettison through the skyline. When looking at it this way, the hectic life in Babel still seems favourable.
Their city is underground. Their lab is in fortified concrete. For the time being they will keep working at the Library and uploading their collective knowledge.
Scene 01, Shot 03 is a fun but complicated one. This simulations will require a few different Mocap movements to feel right. As well as lots of detail control to make it light on the renderer. To me, this is an exercise in creating a focal-point. Placing the two talking characters in the middle, with a moving crowd surrounding them helps to guide the eye. By then increasing the level of detail on those two characters, there will be an additional pull towards them for the viewer. I wonder how long this will take to render. But hey! I’m excited for the final result nonetheless!
