When orbiting Earth with a camera, its scale becomes a character in itself. I personally love shooting on a 50mm lens for its rather unbiased distortion.
When looking through a 50 Earth feels relatable in size. But without an additional point of reference it’s still very difficult to establish distances. I added the space shuttle to get a stronger sense of perspective.
However I can’t help but want movement in the shot to truly define the scale. Well, that’s gonna be something to explore in Syntactic Labyrinths and several shots in Operation: Deli Platter.
For now I’m going to keep experimenting with guiding lines and implied motion.
