When you purchase an art print from Blauw Films, you are investing in a piece designed to last a lifetime. To achieve this level of quality, we utilize the Giclée (pronounced zhee-klay) printing process—the gold standard for fine art reproduction.

What is a Giclée print?

The word “Giclée” is French for “sprayed ink.” Today, the term describes a sophisticated inkjet printmaking process that goes far beyond standard commercial printing.

By using professional-grade archival inks and specialized printers, Giclée printing offers extra-fine image resolution. This allows us to retain a higher degree of detail, texture, and color depth from the original cinematic art or photographic images, ensuring the print looks exactly as the artist intended.

How long do Giclée prints last?

A significant amount of research and development has gone into the materials that make up a Blauw Films print. While the archival nature of any print can vary based on its environment, scientific lab reports suggest that our Giclée process and premium papers will produce a print that lasts between 100–200 years in optimal conditions.

Protecting Your Art

To ensure your print remains a centerpiece for generations, keep the following in mind:

  • Sunlight Resistance: We use high-quality, UV-resistant inks that offer great durability. However, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as even the best inks can eventually fade under constant UV exposure.
  • The Competition: Cheaper alternatives (standard digital prints) lack these archival properties and will often begin to fade or discolor within just a few years.

Designed to transform artwork into a striking wall presence, our Giclée prints are more than just images—they are durable pieces of cinematic history.
