Blauw Films

This is based on an extract from 101 Things I Learned in Business School.

Maintaining a healthy life-cycle of your company means you need to be prepared in a variety of key areas:

  1. Accounting
The transactions and monetary items of your business should be organised and kept track of. The stronger your accounting skills and/or accounting team, the more peace of mind you will have in the long run.
  2. Finance
The management of your monetary assets.
In film production we are dealing with a variety of income sources ranging from private equity to product sales and invoices. Being well organised in what comes in and what goes out is essential.
  3. Marketing
Promoting your company’s services or brand to the right markets. Ensure the right products are sold at the right prices and in the right places. It’s always important to do your marketing when you’re busy.
And never forget to think vertically and creatively. The best result is often gained from alternative marketing efforts.
  4. Production & Operations
Overseeing and coordinating all company activities such as manufacturing, services and production developments. As Blauw Films is an IP development company we do a bit of all three. For this it is good to have a Manager on your team with previous experience in the field.
  5. Organisational Behaviour
This may include motivational strategies, company culture, leadership models, group training and putting in place repeatable systems.
A lot of your business will depend on how your organisation behaves subconsciously. As they say, “messy behaviour will lead to messy business.”
  6. Economics
The science behind business and financial activity. We are still in the process of hiring an economist to truly analyse our situation. However, it’s important to be aware of this as you might not be far off from increasing revenue if small changes are made.

Blauw Films Production Slate 2023 - 2024

When we first started Blauw Films in 2017 we had much to learn.

We have slowly adapted our business model from a service based agency focusing on Visual Effects, to a short film production company.

Recently we have updated our business model again to be what we truly believe we do best.

Blauw Films is an IP development company.

We make our own projects and share its developments with our community in the form of Tools, Learning Material and Network opportunities.

The more we can help fellow creatives, the better.

Our personal projects serve as case-studies for how to achieve your crazy ideas.
